Challenge #131 - B&W macro
Many types of shots work well sans color, but for this competition you'll need to find texture and light on a tiny scale. Good luck!

Winners posted above. Other comments:

3dart, very nice. It's as though the little buds are reaching for life, and your focus was right on.

Pauly_G, I really like this shot. It speaks of the isolation of cold winter. I might have placed it higher if it was a little closer. Welcome to POTN!

ph.viny, you'll have to tell the story of this shot. I'm curious.

Carolys, this was a contender. It feels a little bright, and the angle is a little flat for my taste, but it was well-done.

Boutty, I love the texture in this one. I think it's the lack of depth that hurts it for me, at least compared to the other entries. I understand that you'd want to keep the whole thing on plane for sharpness.

Teekay, really cool. I'd like to hear about the processing on this one.

Grandadraymond, it's a very nice shot, but perhaps a bit too centered.

7kpulldown, the second I saw this I knew it was my winner. What great contrast and the theme is fantastic. There's so much detail and interest I could look at this shot for a long time. Welcome to POTN!

Sara, I like the patterns in this one. I wish I knew what I was looking at. It's driving my crazy!

IainB, what a great idea! You not only have a technically good shot, but it's quite interesting. It has good emotion.

Thanks, everyone. These are all great shots. I'm thrilled at how this contest turned out.

Ahhh the fun of macro! This is going to sound funny but here goes.. I was wandering around my place looking for interesting subjects and found this interesting texture. It's a piece of stained glass artwork that I had leaning up in a window. I was experimenting, taking pictures of the people and passing cars through the stained glass down on the street below. In this shot I posted there's a car but it's not noticeable once converted to black and white. It does however, add to the interesting-ness of the patterns.

I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. The longer I stare at it the more I "see" in it. Mostly though when I look at it though, I see a face! :)

Ahh! I suspected glass, but it looked too wet. :-)
