I was excited to go back to the Vancouver aquarium. The first time I had gone, I only had my old Canon S400 point and shoot. These were with my XTi.
These came out pretty nifty with the 50mm 1.8 Should have taken a photo of the sign but I can't remember what kind of Japanese jellyfish type they were. I wished I had kept my 50mm on, but these were with my 70-300. Composition isn't that great since I was focusing on trying to keep them in my field of view. Cute, but i'm sure they carry enough nasties, even though the tourists were trying to hand feed them.

I really love your first 2 shots. I was lucky enough to spend the month of October in Vancouver/Victoria/Whistler(my favorite place on earth!) last year. I went to the aquarium when outthere, and unfortunately the jellyfish room was closed for renovation. You have captured some great shots. Did they allow tripods? When I went to Monterey Bay Aquarium a few years back, they did not allow tripods, and although I got a few good shots, I would have loved to have a steadier shot. Nice work!

Thanks! Too bad you missed the new exhibit area. The jellyfish shots were easy just because how much they glowed. I can't say whether it was the lighting or the actual creatures! You're allowed to take photos, but not for commercial use. I would highly doubt a tripod would work since there's always so much foot traffic, unless they allow you to setup some sort of special early/late time where you can get setup. A monopod may work well, but even with that you're still fighting the crowd, palm prints and condensation on the tank glass.
