O.K. Here is mine. This is also a "mini-trecker". Seems to be a popular bag. On the outside pockets I also carry a Sigma 500DG Super flash and a Vosonic X Drive Pro. I'll typically also carry a EOS 630 Film camera and my A60 (used to take the picture)

Back in the '70s, there weren't any bags that I liked, so I designed my own. I wanted to be able to put 2 cams in with the most used lenses attached, including the hood. It easily held, 4 lenses (20, 35, 50, & 105) ready for use, & the 200 fit under the lens shelf, along with a backup flash (283).
The inside of the top would capture the Velcro on the lens & base caps, so I could unscrew them with one hand.
Pouches on the sides held a minimum of 80 rolls of film (about one days shooting), & the primary 283 flash.

When the top was flipped over to close it, I could open a compartment for gadgets, focusing screens, filters, & stuff that would get me arrested in todays airports.

Did you notice the extra padded (postman's) shoulder cushion on the strap! It weighed in at over 20 pounds, but with one hand to steady the bag & hold my tripod too, I could go anywhere. I designed it to attach a 2nd strap for my other shoulder, but I didn't use it much after I got used to carrying the bag around.
I could also fit a small light stand inside it.

Unlike Kennys, it didn't come with a free fitness course. Part of the job provided that, by me running up & down the stairs on drilling rigs out in the Gulf.

I also used something like these waist packs when I could leave equipment I didn't think I'd need in my trunk. Lowepro Beltpacks

I'll have to take a shot of mine, sometime.

EDIT: OK, so I did. This was an Aspak from the '70s & I don't think it's made any longer. But it illustrates that a belt pack can hold a lot. While I usually have the 28-70 f/2.8 on my camera, I included it here just to show what I could carry on my hips if I needed to. Other items inside are the 70-200 f/2.8, 85mm f/1.8, a Vivitar 283 strobe, & spare battery.

up top, I'm on the market for a decent bag for my newly acquired digital rebel and needs some ideas. Got a lowepro ex160 but it's too dang small and it's going back to the store. Any ideas for a bag that will fit the digital rebel kit and all its junk plus an elura 50 video cam ? I would like it to be as compact as possible. Throw me some model no.

AYLWIN: can you give me the brand and model name of the bag that you posted. thx

Here's my backpack. Now where can I fit a 300 mm f4 IS or a 400 mm f5.6 L?

My bag; Billingham 335. Fits an EOS 1DMk2 with sigma 20mm 1.8; EF 50/1.4; EF35/2.0; EF 100/2.0; 550EX. Furthermore some extra's (spare batteries, extention cord, filters, ear plugs (I shoot concerts) ) and a monopod on top of it all, between zipped bag and rainflap.
Pictured with Eos 1n, because my 1d2 and lenses are over at Canon....

OK....

My bag weighs quite a bit but that just means that I've got lots of goodies... you can always lighten up a bit if neccessary. Actually I have a camera body bag which I take when I'll be shooting with my standard
EF 24-70mm L 2.8 walkaround lense. The bag is a Lowerpro Computrekker which deceivingly holds quite a bit if packed properly which is good for those that want to bring alot on a plane but are afraid of being asked to check it in. So long as you look strong with the bag, its size will prevent most from asking you to weigh it or anything. It helps to have a tiny laptop like the sony T series Vaio's. I'm actually capable of bringing on a few additional USB powered 80 gig external laptop hardrives (www.drivesolutions.com) that I use to watch movies and store all of the immense files that this 16.7 mpxl camera takes (especially when simultaneously taking Raw and large JPG files) If I wanted to push it I might even be able to fit 1 pair of Bose noise cancelling headsets but that definately would be pushing it. Worst case scenario, put your headset around your neck and your wife's/ husband's when boarding.

Goodluck

interesting pics.
lots of toys

so has anyone tried a bag then switched to a backpack and like it more? or viceversa?
as i am shopping for something to hold my 20D and stuff.

do you carry the manuals, and such with you?

do you carry your tripod or monopod with you alot?

best way to carry CF cards and filters to reduce chance of damage?
hard or soft cases? or what?

any risk of damage to body or glass by carrying them vertical or horozontal? or does it matter?

thanx

i use the hard case for permanent storage due to strength and moisture issues. camera stays in the hard case, gets put in the car and then when i go out to go shooting, i take the camera out of the hard case and put it in the bag (or just put the strap around my neck and walk around with it). I find the combination of a hard case which holds everything, and a small softcase works for me. I might consider getting a backpack also. something i can don a tripod or a monopod to.
