Pekka, when @HOME bit the dust, I went with Cox. I remember getting email notification, but no more.
I can think of a couple things. ()Feature discontinued. ()Bounces after @home died put me on a no-email status and am stuck there ()Bug in email update in forum program. Have updated my email to kd6lor1@cox.net, but maybe not fully registered with database that sends out email. BTW, I enjoyed your comments about American men needing to ask permission about major purchases. I conclude from your POV that you are single. Am I right? I asked my wife if I could post this and she said yes and in the future I don't need to ask permission to post to your board. I got real lucky she picked me. Also she said I could buy a D60 if I want... I will know for sure if I want to make the DSLR plunge in a week or so when my camera comes in ( if it actually does ). http://www.dpreview.com/forums/read....essage=2921742 Was thinking possibly your Euro-centric opinion is right on the money. I think you could expand it into some Freudian analysis about American men being agressive in global politics, but submissive in their home environment. Still working out the psyche implications on that. I stopped reading The Economist so long ago ( wife said it was to expensive and wouldn't renew the subscription ) that my ability to see things in anything but an Ameri-centric viewpoint is stunted. Thanks Pekka, of all the boards I post to, I appreciate your's the most. If you ever get to Southern California, let me know and I will buy you a beer somewhere where there is a photo-op. Paul btw, I just clicked the Email notification box by force of habit. pj

The email via scripts (PHP) is currently crippled in this server due to stricter mail security settings (I share this machine with a friend who is obsessed with security) so in some occasions mail notification does not work - as soon as I have time I'll check how to make a compromises in setup and make it work as it used to. I'm not really very Euro-centric - only "Euro" I see here is the money and some flags on shopping malls. Quote:

Pekka, thanks for the reply. Looks like my first notion RE email notificiation was correct. Was not sure since failure seemed coincident with change in email provider.
Security issues are important, and as long as I know it is down, I am good with that. Paul
