Default Sigma 17-35mm F2.8-4 DG

Anyone have this lens? I haven't heard much about it but figured someone on here must have one. If you do, post your best shots; and Mike, do your thing.

I've two friends with it for a 5D. Both seem relatively happy. It's big and almost feels like a sawed off coffee can. AF is silent due to the HSM but slow.

Photodo and popphoto have tests of it. If you look around, sometimes you can find the newer version for just over $200 via cameta at Amazon. Make sure it's the second generation though. I hear the first generation one wasn't that great.

Cameta on eBay is selling them for $240.

When I can finally sell the 17-85, I am considering this lens to keep me in the WA loop. So, I'll be watching this thread closely for images and reviews.

Thanks Mr. Clean for getting the images, and review, rolling on this lens.

Well, it turned out my copy front focused upon more critical review. Exchanged for a new one and the same problem exists on my Mark IIn and my brothers 40D.
I can't, in good conscience, recommend this. Especially when the better Tamron 17-35 is only 30 dollars more.

Good 05, I'm glad for ya!
Personally, my experience with it was SO bad it's not even worth mentioning.
