Default A few from a Highschool homecoming.

My friend wanted me to take some pictures of her at her homecoming. She was on the homecoming court for homecoming queen, but she didn't win. Ahh well, here are a few captures. C&C welcome!

1. Really didnt care for the setup in the first two but they turned out ok. It was almost pitch black with no lights on, had a lot of trouble trying to auto focus and was too dark for my eyes to try manual focus. Not the sharpest.

2. With her nephew, a bit sharper then the first.

3. Roundup of all the homecoming court.

4. Lastly one of her being escorted to the front.

All were taken with the Digital Rebel XT, kit lens, and stock flash.

2. Aside from the shadow cast onto the bummer I think the pose is nice and the fact that her and the baby are looking into the camera.
4. Her leg being bent is distracting (and I don't know why haha), I think it would have worked out better with her right leg in front and fully extended. Also her escorts eyes being closed kinda sucks but that's hard to time sometimes.

All around looks like you got some good shots though, hope your friend is happy with what you took!

Thanks for the comment, I didn't even notice the shaddow in #2. What would have helped this? If I moved to the right a few steps?

If you are using the pop-up flash then nothing will help this in portrait orientation. Except a bracket. The flash moves to the left when you go to portrait mode causing the shadow on the right. The first shot was landscape and the shadow is directly behind and out of site because the flash is directly over the lens.
