Gene's 69 Dodge Dart GT used to live across the street from me. Now it's Genes's & lives around the corner.
It has a 340 block stroked out to 418cid. Since he bought it two years ago, he's put $7,000 in the motor which he finished rebuilding a few weeks ago . It previously put out about 550bhp before the rebuild, & he expects it will get in the 10's in the quarter now. Then he's going to add a NO2 bottle for 200 more horsepower. Did I say that Gene likes to go fast? It has an auto-trans with a 500 converter, & a 8-3/4" 4.88 rear end. I expect that Gene will drive it a lot! ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]()

Very nice Frank, The 69 Dart GT has always been one of my favorite body styles from Mopar. Makes me think of a baby Roadrunner, and with the same engine options, barring possibly the Hemi.

Nice! Love them big slicks. I bet this thing will move quick! I wish I could be there in person when he "drives" it!

Those are some fat tires!! Makes it look funky from the rear....but I bet it grabs the road surface real well.

Nice shots, that dart sits really well and is one of my favorite body styles that mother Mopar put out.
I don't really car for the pro-touring look that's popular now with 20" rims. This is perfect. |

I bought a '69 Cuda fastback "S" with the 340bhp 383 & 4-speed trans. It rusted out from under me at 187,000 miles, but I sure wish I'd kept it now! It was listed at 3,050 pounds & would do an honest 141mph right out of the showroom! http://moparmuscle.automotive.com/68...-gt/index.html It wasn't until those rare days when the first demure, unmarked '68 Darts and Barracudas rolled off the car trailers from the Hurst facility in Michigan that people began to fear the high-horsepower-plus-little-body combo potential of the A-Bodies. What followed was the single greatest corporate rebellion in professional drag racing history, landing the infamous Super Stock Darts and Barracudas their rightful place in the annals of the NHRA and IHRA.
