it has a metallic look which im not sure if you are do on purpose or not. im pressuming that you were using the dodge and burn tool.

i believe on way to avoid this is by using a tone-mapping plugin. it will take care of the highlights and shadows without the halos

I like it, grain can add alot of interest to a portrait. I like the overall composisiton of this image. Great work.

looks more like a heavily tonemapped RAW file, than an HDR image.

I was kind of going for a metallic look, no use of the dodge/burn tool
I did it with tone mapping in Photomatix

How many different exposures did you use? It is so hard to do a person because you usually get too much blur even with the align tool in photomatix. Well done great compostion.

I think the radius on the effect is set too large and the compression is too deep. However I have no idea how the pros manage to make all the wrinkles in shot like this have a uniform luminosity. Any ideas?
The models face says nothing interesting. looks like a "pose for me now" shot. try to catch him when he doesn't know ur shooting.
