Check out the dial. Its all plastic, no wonder it breaks. Poor quality canon. Does someone know where i can find a metal one. I also found one place for a whole little assembly but just need the dial. Can i order directly from canon.

I did the same thing to mine, had to rip it off. It comes from trying to torque it down onto the camera.

Hi there, try this number and ask for Cherry (or something like that), she was the most helpful person in the tech world I ever talked to. 732.521.7230, this is in Jamesburg, NJ. I dropped a canon 30d and the back cover, below on/off switch broke, she found it quickly, sent it off and I got it the next morning. I took the camera apart, put the new part on and it works like a charm.

By tightening it. Its just plastic gears against metal gears. The plastic is going to break. And when the grip can never get tight enough to stop flexing that a problem.

Were you tightening w/ your fingers or some sort of gadget. Perhaps a smallish flat head screwdriver? I've done it too
