Cycling with EF 200mm f2.8L

Spotted these cyclists in Melbourne Botany garden today.

Good wheel blur, good job getting their faces

Except for #1, I would have cropped all of these in landscape orientation. A lot of wasted space above the riders.

Nice shots! I agree about the landscape orientation-thing though. That is also the best for pano's.

First one is best for my taste. Others are or not cropped tight enough or just from wrong position for my taste. Cycling photos, at least when done this way, are best from front and not from side. Another thing is cropping bikes. If you go for whole bike, then go for whole bike, not that little bit of bike is missing. If you go for crop, then crop it tight.
Here are few of my photos from this years time trial races on Cycling world championships in Stuttgart, just to give you idea what I meant

I had a look and I understood what you meant now. This is a great learning exercise for me. (never really done this type of shooting before)

I am amazed by this forum's ability to point out useful tips and lessons!

agree with the comments above but it looks like the 200 f/2.8L

The pictures where taken at The Jayco Herald Sun Tour. Rider 37 is Steve Morabito who was the winner of stage six. riders 36 and 37 are part of the Astana Team who won the teams classification. Steve Morabito was second in the GC the winner was Matthew Wilson of Australia who won with a 3 second margin.
Follow the Tips given by primoz and you will finish up with better pictures.

Edit. The second picture I think is Matthew Wilson who won the Tour.
