Default Kaka New Zealand Native Endangered Bird

I could get so close to these guys. One of them was posing for like 10 mins while I clicked away and changed settings. Then he flew straight at me. I was so disappointed my S/Sp. was high enough and my reaction time to slow to get him flying at me. It was kind of scary but cool too. He and his friend then continued to pose together.

Thanks...
It's the California Condor, taken here at the Grand Canyon where I work and live. I see them all the time, but really the best month is in May..and close-ups are easy to get then....steve

What kind of work lets you live in the Grand Canyon?

Thanks. I guess they are about 30-40 cm tall, maybe? Big enough to be scary when flying at my face anyhow.

Well done, do you by chance have any of the Green Finches there in New Zealand?

TIA,

Lynn

I drive a shuttle bus at the south rim 9 1/2 months out of the year. Soon I will be taking off for some large bird shooting...I only see little birds here, except the condors, ravens and tv's. steve

I'm not sure. I actually know very little about native birds in NZ. Sorry

Wow, that is a pretty cool job. Have fun shooting large birds. What an amazing environment to live and work in. I am very jealous.
