I'm putting a montage together for the coach of a local soccer club and would like some feedback on layout, style, pictures used, etc before it gets printed. I would appreciate any tips or suggestions you can give me!

Was planning on doing a 12x8...it's not too big, but big enough that he'll be able to make out some faces. What are you thinking?

IMHO - I would crop/resize the pictures across the top and bottom to be the same size. make it look a little more uniform. Maybe delete the background picture and go for a different background, looks a little disracting to me.
It's a great idea!

Thanks, Cory. I'll definitely resize the top and bottom shots to 4x6 proportions tonight. For some reason I tried a different format BEFORE doing a more formal layout. I think it looks a little too cluttered tho. :-/

I definately prefer the posted one to the "alternative" - the angled pics don't look right.
Could I suggest that you take the club name and split it above and below the logo, so you can see both as it seems a shame to obscure the logo when you have space. You could also then use a text colour that shows up on the faded background. |

Colin,
Thanks for the good idea! When I put it together tonight I'll definitely do that. How about yellow for the lettering? Joe

Looks fine to me, but the lettering on the left "Ashburn Soccer Club" is a bit hard to read, with the similar-colored logo behind it. Maybe change the color of the font? Not sure, but I just found the lettering hard to read.

I'd change the crops of the pictures so that the spacing between them is uniform. It looks a little wacky when they aren't evenly spaced.

Yellow should be good, helps balance up the two sides then. Show us the finished article won't you.

Once the team Soccer Mom gives the green light on the pics and layout, I'll put the final together and post it up here.

I'd leave a little more slack around the edges so the picture frame doesn't cut off any heads or important parts of pictures, esp lower left. The center picture should be cropped wider (or tighter) to get (or eliminate) the yelling mouth in the top right into a full face. Maybe use a more fun font for the Thank ......, unless the font used for the Ashburn ..... is the official club logo. I agree with the font not standing out. I'm not fond of the balance of the logo on the left vs the picture on the right, looks uneven to me. Not sure what you can put there, soccer ball, trophy, or split the label and logo to opposite sides, change the proportion of the picture to match the logo.
Fun idea, 12 x 8 is just big enough that its displayable.

OK, I reworked it a bit...is this an improvement? Should I print it or go back to the drawing board?

Like the font color better, the balance of the center is improved. Shuffling the photos got kids away from the edges. Very subtle changes, but it looks much better to me.
