I think you passed the test. It looks good to me. Did you bounce the flash?

If you hadn't have let the cat out of bag, I never would have guessed you used flash. I like it.

wow cool wasn't expecting a good review LOL But thanks and as far as bouncing I thing I put it at a 45 degree angel. Is it always better to bounce it then shooting straight on. as when I did it straight on it seemed like It was a little darker. But I like the flash so far just need to get used to it especially with out a light meter or anything.
If it is not raining out I am taking pics at a football game any suggestions on how I should use the flash with that? thanks Josh

Ok thanks what is the best way to make it better or not as underexposed. as my settings were f-5.6 ISO-100 In manual modem with I think shutter speed at 125 or 200 (sorry forgot)

Either increase the flash power, increase the FEC, increase the ISO, decrease the f/stop, or decrease the shutter, or a combination of things. It really depends.
For that particular shot, I probably just would have increase ISO personally, because you're using direct flash there and you did a good job of managing hotspots (and the shadows are bearable as well).

I love to stretch my ISO when using flash. As long as your exposure is fine, noise won't be a problem. There's no one set values to work with, you need to be able to adapt your settings during the shoot.
This little kid I was shooting ISO800. Notice how there's almost no hint of ISO grain: ![]() That was with a single bare 580EX direct flash.

The best way to lighten an image is to shoot in RAW in the first place, then edit the white balance and exposure in a RAW editor like CS2's ACR or DPP that came with the camera.
You can change ISO to whatever you want, and if you use Av mode it won't matter, it will still come out the same. Use some exposure compensation.
