Default New 330 and new to photography

Hi

I've just purchsed a 330 and have never really taken many pics in the past (other than the usual holiday type). But there I have a buring desire to capture images - I see things everyday and think "wow that would make a good photo" but have no idea where to start!

The option on the camera are baffling from someone who knows nothing about ISO, exposure, focal length, etc, etc.

Does anyone know of a handy hint website? Or can anyone answer these questions?

1. How do I take the sort of shot that shows water flowing in a blurred manner?
2. What effect does altering the ISO have?

My apologies if I am 'dumming down' this site (which I think is great).

Damian

A very good place to start, if you don't mind spending a small amount of money, is the ShortCourses Guide to Using Your Digital Camera, at http://www.shortcourses.com/bookstore/using/using.htm

The same site has a link to a FREE on-line "textbook" which explains digicam basics. I recommend spending time with this first before you spend more money - it's surprisingly in-depth. Here's the link: http://www.photocourse.com/

Oh, and they do have a ShortCourse book specific to the S300, which I'd bet would be 98% relevant to the S330.

Good luck,

Great link, Mitch. I hadn't seen Photocourse.com, before. It's got a lot of good info.

Damian, I have a page on my Web site for my Canon S30, and there are a lot of links on it that you might find useful. www.rpwong.com/canon_s30s40.htm. But you should be able to get all the answers you need from Photocourse.com.
