Default My first album looking for comments

This is my first album. What do you think? I know some of the pages are busy, she wanted lots of pictures squeezed into the pages.

I dont do much album design myself (outsoruce it) so please accept this C&C with that in mind.

On the whole I think it does a nice job of telling the story of the day and I like a lot of the image placements and backgrounds, but I find all the different frames that have been used a bit distracting. I have looked at quite a lot of nice albums and one thing that usually stands out is that they use one or two standard frames per album.

It's pretty nice for a first album. In general I think similar things to what I say about most albums:
- It's very busy.
- I don't like overlaid images much.
- I don't like tilted images much.
- It's very busy.
- The odd shaped frames will date quickly.
- Inconsistent frame types on the same page (eg page 2 center tilted image).
- You might consider more B&W images, esp during prep.
- It's very busy.
- The circular image with a white vignette will date very, very quickly.

I would space it out to 30 pages, and go with some pages with pure white backgrounds. Remember it doesn't have to just look good now, it has to stand the test of time. If you're planning on making a book with soft pages that's less important because I don't think they're going to last all that long anyway, at least not in good condition, that's why I don't offer them to my customers any more.

Thanks for the time responding so far.
I know it is busy... I think next time I won't accept the fact they want so many pictures.
I forgot to mention (but your probably figured it out) these are double pages so 50 total pages.

Tim, great points about the aging boarders.

I think I will stick with the simple thin boarder frame for the next one.

Tim, I would be nice to hear what you think of some of the images

Thanks again. I am going to start the next one now.

Has this been produced already? If not i'd make some changes as per the suggestions above. The images are good, the design just doesn't show them off well, it's far too busy for my tastes.

Thanks again Tim. Ya she has her book. She loves it. Once again, I would not have put so many pictures. I told her about 80 for the 50 page book. But here we are with about 130. I won't do it again (I promise you).

Saying the images are good is a great compliment from you. I have taken much of your advice you have gave to me and others.

I have several more to make from other brides. So I will incorporate all the suggestions and simplify it.

Happy to have helped Tell people it's two images per page, or price per image. Pre-designing can work as well, i'm starting to do that now.

If you've delivered it and she likes it, all is good.

I have to say that Tim saved me a lot of typing!

Skipping the too busy part, the tilts and the frames really take away from the images imho. Less is more...

Although I agree with some of what has been said about the number of images used, I think that the overall layout works pretty well, I have not seen any work like this before (most multi images are usually no more than 3 photos per page) and think youhave done a fantastic job.

The Bride loves the album so you must have done something right.

I agree with the above comments. The style will date and there are a few too many styles incorporated within the album.

You have some really good pictures in the album! The photography is great, just got to move on to developing your page design. The list of skills we have to learn just goes on!

Thanks again all. I will try and keep the images vertical for the next one also.

It is a Graphi album 9.5x13

Can the MPIX books be configured to print edge to edge to produce an album like this?
Every time I try to do it in their software it adds borders to the pictures.

Great images and I have to agree with the rest that is is a bit to busy.
I would go with some nice use of negative space in the picture placement.
