I am about ready to purchass the pixma pro 9500. This will be my first real photo printer. I've been reseaching them all and my question is, does it have to be turned on all the time? The printer will be in my bedroom and I can't have it self cleaning and making alot of noise while I try and sleep. I know some other brands do need to be on all the time. Thanks for the help.

You shouldn't. I have the i9900 and only turn it on when I'm ready to print. It's not uncommon for it to be off for a week. I try to print a 4 x 6 every couple of weeks, just to make sure the print heads don't get clogged. You know, an ounce of prevention...
