souporman - I have sent a message out to all POTN Facebook members with my number ... has that message got through? It seemed to have problems sending it here

Mitesh / goatee - would you be interested in coming on Saturday?

ies photos - EllJam said he would be out and about in London on the 1st taking photos, and as Anke (might?) be free then, I suggested we had an impromptu meeting on the 1st as well as the second ... not sure how many people are interested in that though ....

OOo I do beg your pardon Adam, I forgot your name on the list!

Right, so I finally got around to processing some of my favourites from the photo course I took in Czech. It was a week long program that was aimed at fashion photography, with a lot of work with off camera lighting and a bit of photoshop instruction as well.

It was put on by Ross Perkins, who runs AClassPhotos. I was a bit leery at first just going by his website, but he's actually very knowledgeable in his field and a cool guy to boot.

As I was the only one to sign up for the course, I probably got a bit spoiled with the one on one tuition, but I think even in a larger group I would have learned as much (though I suspect the models would get bored doing the same poses all the time).

At £1700 for 7 days, I initially thought it was a bit pricey until I realized that this includes your flight, hotels and all of the transportation costs while you're there. All I had to worry about was the cost of food and drinks, and being Czech you can easily get by without spending too much.

Overall, it was definitely worth it. My biggest fear was in working with the models themselves but Ross provides some good examples and the models that were hired were quite professional and would just get on with things if you weren't sure where to direct them next (which I wasn't most of the time). The locations were great (Prague & Brno) and there's no fear of the police coming and asking you to move along (even when we set up light stands etc). Definitely a change coming from London!

After a weeks shooting, I managed to get quite a few good shots of the 5 different models we worked with. Certainly enough to get a start on a portfolio for online modeling sites anyways.

Here are a few of my favs from the week.

1. Jana

2. Jana

3. Tereza

4. Micheala

5. Ada

7. Adela

8. Adela (probably my fav of the week)

Will do...Adam seemed to have good things to say about it so if it's crap, I'm blaming him Bit odd buying a monitor I've never had hands on experience with, but I read a few reviews and it seems like a decent piece of kit.

Ahh righto, no problem mate I hope we can have more regular meets maybe once a month or so See you at the next one maybe

Kevin - super shots mate! The one-to-one tuition sounds awesome, and considering what you got for the price, not too expensive either Did that price include all the tuition?

Cheers

Lots of activity in this thread as usual, and some great shots. Love the lighting on the red arrows!

Considering the amount of photos I take I never share much so here's a few from Sunday, we went out with the family to a pick your own veg, and then up to Richmond Park, I hope you enjoy them:

All shot with the 1dMkII and Sigma 24-70 f/2.8 with CPL

#1:I'm Going in!!!

#2: I got one!

#3: Heave!

#4: I saw a shot like this on another thread and had to have a go, AF didn't like it though!

#5: Pop !! (more luck than timing)

#6 My boys (a little fill flash really helped here)

#7: Jump

Oh, and I might be up for Saturday meetup. I have a 70-200 f/2.8 IS arriving on Friday!

That was the total price for everything. The course, flights, hotels, train tickets, cab rides and model hire. I only paid for food & drinks once I started the course (which felt more like a holiday to be honest )

Thanks - though sorry, can't make it - plus I don't get to see much of my kids during the week, so weekends are very much spent with the kids (and my wife too, but I get to see her in the evening )

I should say it was worth it - I agree, the last shot is superb. How did you do location off-camera flash? Was it strobist style, or with strobes and power packs?

That looks amazing! I like the look of the birds of prey workshops. Reasonably priced too! Did you see, for the bat workshop they'll lend you a 10D, lens and flash, if you don't have kit that's up to it.

Sorry guys I can't make it a Saturday now, I forgot it was Gay Pride, in Brighton, so I would rather go there, as the opportunities to get some great street shots, and generally a great days photography where as Kew can be sort of be done any time with in reason I guess.

As for Friday waiting to see if anything is arranged in the day time, but I said I would shoot a local evening football match for my Club to help with their Sponsorship

Really Sorry was really looking forward to Kew and a meet up
