Default Words from the past....

Any CC would be helpful. I have not done much work in B/W/Sepia.

Ok, over 24 hours not one comment, so I have to ask: Does this photo just suck, not interesting, poor PP/BW conversion or what? I can't learn anything if I don't know. Perhaps I should have posted in the critique forum.

Intriguing picture!

A colored tombstone adorned with a Rebel flag!

The conversion seems a little forced and un-natural...perhaps a bit too contrasty and lacking some film grain. But definitely fixable and worth fixing!

As for the lack of responses around here, I experience the same silent treatment when I post my stuff, ( for the most part), so, don't feel singled out!

Cheers!

I think this one would be better as B&W. I agree the sepia feels unnatural.

OK, here are 3 different versions.

1. The original- Just converted the RAW to JPEG and resized.

2. Just a B/W conversion.

3. B/W conversion with grain (trying for the older photo look, which is what I tried to do in the original photo posted.)

Of the 3 redo's, I think I the third one captures the mood best...though the original color one also has real impact!

Cheers!

I agree, regarding the original post.

Of the three rewoked photos, I actually like #1 the best. The photo did not have a lot of color to begin with, making the rebel battle flag more pronounced. The color also made the photo more contemporary. I thought #3 was a close second.

Composition of the photo was well done, in my opinion.
