Lisa, didn't you notice that the threads were merged to include the separate prices AND the 17-40 was marked SOLD?

No problem kiddo, we are all learning here.

If someone has a problem with their post I would advise to hit the report post button and explain the problem.

I would do the same thing for an item sold out of a list of items. You do not get to bump your thread just because you sold one of the items. Kind of makes single item threads look good doesn't it?

If you make a sale in a single item thread just close you thread. There is no reason to bump your closed thread of the active threads.

that's a very good idea. I think I will do that in future (single item I mean)....and I didn't even think about the report post button. But all is good now. I just wanted the listing to show that the kit was no longer an option. Thanks for taking care of that.

I am willing to knock 30-50 bucks off at most, but 5% is $94.00 dollars. I have seen glass and bodies doing for 4-6000.00 on here. So that means you cant lower your 1ds Mark III 100.00 bucks. With the new rules it would have to be 300.00 (5%) to be considered substantial drop! No one is going to want to do that.

While I may be reading into it to literal, I really think it is going to stop anyone from selling anything that has a higher end value. I think a better idea would be to pull an FM and charge a fee if you want to sell, to help with costs of the forum and to keep the rift raft out.

I know if the 5% rule stays I'll quite selling anything on here that is worth more then 800.00, anything more then that with the 5% drop and you might as well give it away. I don't want to see the Buy & Sell forum turn into a flea market of kit lenses and camera straps. Just my 2c worth.
These points are valid. I just changed the rule to

You may post additional information only if accompanied by meaningful price decrease (**).

and added the footnote:

(**) NOTE: using price decrease as a way to bump posts, like e.g. $1 off from $200 item, will be considered as unauthorized bumps!. If you made a typo in your ad, or forgot to add something genuinely essential, report your post using the report post button and explain your situation.

thanks Pekka, that's a perfect solution!!!!! i don't support knocking $1 off to bump posts but i think that knocking $50 off a $2000 item is more than reasonable.

What about doing something similar to the glamour section of where you need a min. post or registration age to post a for sale or ad section. Lots of other forums implement this policy as well.

Another way I've seen it done, at least here at school, is to have the rules laid out nice a neat, easily readable (as it is now), then have a simple quiz for the user to complete about the rules before he or she can post in the alloted section.

Already discussed earlier in this thread, having a min. post count means that somebody will just make needless posts like "nice shot" everywhere until the minimum is met. If somebody has ill intentions, there is really nothing that can be put into effect to prevent it from happening.

Except 200 'nice shot' posts would be a dead giveaway wouldn't it It would be to me, along any other clues it all adds up.

Okay, throw in a few "how to" posts, a couple of "great deals on amazon", etc.

Also suggested min. time and quiz idea (although, that would probably be unpopular, annoying, and almost useless as well).

What was the rationale behind removing the Feedback section?

It has been moved to Market Watch. It would not work correctly with the posting permissions of the Sell forum.

I'm confused. Does this mean that Feedback as it's own Post will be deleted but the "Feedback" section is okay.
