Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 II EX DG APO Macro HSM

Just thought I might as well start a new thread for this lens since it is new and there is no link to it in the lens archive page. I will post a few of my pictures so far with the lens using it for sports.

Anyone else have this lens?

(mods can you change the name to an archive instead of what I have)

Nice shots! Looks plentiful sharp to me. Can anyone say how it compares to the 'old' DG?

What made you buy this lens instead of the canon equivalent?

Whats it like wide open at 200mm though, The EX DG tends to be a bit soft.

Looks pretty sharp... I'd like to see it at 2.8 too.

I think the Canon produces warmer colours than this one though...

A bit difficult to judge under artificial gym type lighting I'd guess - My 70-200 EX DG is quite warm.

Love your website Erik, you have some incredible shots. Do you shoot exclusively with the 24-70 and the 70-200? Do you ever use a external flash?

Thank you so much. I shoot with the 5D, 24-70 and 70-200 now but I was using the 35L a whole bunch before I sold it. Wish I still had it... and an 85L. I plan on doing some lens shopping in the new year I appreciate your comments. Oh and yes I use 580ex II's

yeah these were shot under strobes. I will try and get a few in the sun. I will shoot straight jpeg with a auto setting of some sorts.

Why did I buy this and not the canon, to see how they do. I have owned a sigma before and the canon is around 200 more I believe in price.

Wanted to give sigma a shot to be honest.
