Default Tamron 28 - 300 VC lens in Jan 2008

Amazon is taking pre-orders. Gotta be the longest lens name I have seen: Tamron AF 28-300 f/3.5-6.3 VC XR Di LD VC IF Macro. Any thoughts on how it will preform?

Uh, that lens has been available for quite some time now. B&H has it in stock and my local camera store has had it for at least over a month.

The OP is talking about the VC (vibration compensation) version. In other words, the optically stabilized counterpart.
