Default Gray Cards

I just finished up a Photo 101 course at my local
junior college where we used slide film and were
taught the use of gray cards. I have ordered a G1
and it is due today or tomorrow. I'm wondering if
gray card use is the same for digital cameras?
Anyone here use one?

Yes, exactly the same. I use a grey card and an incodent light meter with my G1 as well as the built in.... but you will find that the light meter that comes with it is very very good.

Thanks for the reply, I will continue with my gray
card use.
As for the built-in meter, I understand it does not
work in manual mode. I suppose the answer to that is
to buy a light meter. Another solution I have read
here is to switch to Tv mode to get the metering values
then switvh back to manual and set them in.

Hi Grant,
Help!
For many years I have used 18% cards and incident light measurement.

But--How do you use both together?--I always use reflected with 18% cards.

Thanx,
