Hey guys, looking for some honest criticism or opinions on this shot I took from boat of a dead end street that leads to a dock. Shot in AV at f/6 1/200 at 160 ISO.

Technically it's a touch underexposed for me. But more importantly, I'm not sure I get any emotional impact from the image. I'm don't see a main subject to anchor the image and my eyes are wandering around.
I'd recommend finding a nicer time of the day, finding a subject to focus the attention on and go from there. |

I'm with Ty on this; emotional impact? Does this shot have special meaning to you that we're not understanding?

I totally agree with the above comments. My eyes are trying to find something to lock onto, but it's just not there.

My honest criticism would be, why did you actually take this picture from the boat? If you were trying to check if you can actually take sharp picture from a boat. Then hurray... you did it.

I think the others said it best in there comments but I hope it doesn't discourage you, rather try to capture a more interesting subject. if you're looking for ideas or influences check out other forums such as "street photography" and see what most other people are shooting.
You may also want to pick up a book called "learning to see creatively" by Bryan Peterson. Not meant as an insult at all but rather as something that could benefit. all the best..

Learning To See Creatively by Bryan Peterson, eh? Sounds like a good title to pickup with the Barnes & Noble Gift Card I got for Christmas! You may have put me onto a milestone maker! A special thanks to those whom shared their thoughts and opinions. I hope you continue to chime in on my photos. I promise to use them to get better!
