Default rust grazers

found a springtail haven within the plantation I normally visit- this rusty fence:

not exactly swarming but pretty dense populations:

note the tiny mite in comparison to this 2mm springtail:

Robin followed me around and I had some seed this time

actually grazing on green stuff of course:

Lovely shots- at least a rust background might explain the colouring on the globulars
Wonderful Robin capture too

Well done on the images!

P.S. Please don't tell MJ that springtails are really the size of a small cat and you're using a 300mm lens...

Nice shots there RM, lots of algae on that fence too, probably that is what is attracting them. Probably won't be long before that algae is picked up on by an ascomycete and then you will have a bunch of lichens for the springtails to hid in.

Good shots, Toby. I'm rather partial to the Robin, having married one. Springtails wonderful too.

I am having some additional computer problems. Apple said it would replace my harddrive. If anyone asks would you let them know. Thanks.
