Default UK Based e-commerce web sites for social photographers

Hi, I am a social photographer based in the UK. More and more of my clients (particlularly for weddings) are asking if the images are to be posted on my web site. I have yet to eplore this area as I believe it t be cost prohibitive .. however, having images accessible for purchase and or viewing is something I need to give serious consideration. Does anyone out there have experience of this or could provide me with some links that are worth investogating. Ideally, I would like to have the same look and feel to my e-commerce site as my existing web site www.davidhughesphotography.co.uk , but expect this to be too pricey. Any help / advice greatly appreciated.

This is my first post and I just want to say how superb this forum is, for both pro's and amatuers. Many thanks
David

welcome to the forum, David!

I had a look at your site, nice design and user friendly interface.

however, there is an error in the flash script. When i was in library, browse through your gallery, it started to show random images without any further control. All i did was click on the down arrow when i was half way through the first gallery. It jumps to index page and your contact page, while still showing slides of images from gallery, didn't stop until i turned my browser off.

Apart from that, very cool site

Are your photos general pictures that anyone would want to buy or photos for specific people (wedding or portraits)? Depending on which audience the photos are for would determine how an e-commerce site would be set up I think. General photos could be pretty straight forward, but for a specific audience then you would probably want to have a login/password for your clients so that only they can view their photos and pick and choose what they want, and preventing other people from seeing them. It also depends if your client base is ready to adopt something like this too.

Is that the kind of answer you were looking for?

Hi David,

I use Image Management System (IMS) by Thirdlight which uses Photobox as the print service.

thanks for your help ....... I will have a look at the web site you refer to. Most of my purchasers will be from social photography so portraits but mainly weddings, so yes, the password option will have to be seriously considered. Thanks again for your help
