Default Tips on shooting Arenacross

I might not be in the right place with this topic, so thanks for bearing with me.

I am shooting my first arenacross, and am in desperate need of tips. Will have the 70-200mm 2.8 and the 100-400 available to me, as well as my 580 EX II. Will be shooting from the front row, which will put me about 15 feet in the air.

Any thoughts are most appreciated!

I don't think you'll have enough light for the 100-400, but good luck with it. If it were me, try manual in those tough conditions. First set the f-stop & shutter speed you need. Then adjust the ISO. Need an exposure crutch?

Shooting in available darkness:

Only if you're willing to shoot on full manual where the light fall-off per foot of distance is small between long distances. Read this: Fill light at sunset

I used a 300mm on my 1Ds with a 550. Worked just fine and I was in the stands.

Plenty o' light with it.

Jason, was the 550 on auto, & about what was your shooting distance?

Distance? Hmm. Maybe 70m?

I'm pretty sure the flash was on M at full power.
