Default Baby Nemo and friend

Well, Nemo was actually a Common Clownfish (Amphiprion ocellaris),this is a cousin of his, the Saddleback Clownfish (Amphiprion polymnus). This a a 12 day old one, ~5mm in length.

This is a 2 week old Peppermint Shrimp (Lysmata wurdemanni). I am having a hard time getting good detail with it being so transparent and in constant motion. It is about 3mm in length.

I am trying to get some pictures of some larval critters we are raising at work. A friend showed me how he has made small fish tanks out of microscope slides. It seems to work fine as it keeps the fish close to the glass, but it is tough to keep the fish away from the bottom or the walls of the tank. I still have some details to work out to get this to work a little better.

Chris

Yep. they have a symbiotic relationship with sea anemones. They are immune to the powerful sting of the anemone, and they inturn keep predators of the anemone away. They can be very aggressive. The parents to this one attacked me when I removed their eggs. They do not care how big you are. They even make a drumming noise while attacking

All clownfish are tropical. This species is found in the western Pacific.

Thanks for the compliments. I will post some more as I work out the bugs.

Peppermint Shrimp doesn't sound very tasty. Charming pic of the Clownlet.

Peppermint shrimp are cool, pistol shrimp are a little dangerous (not to mention blind), and mantis shrimp are straight killers!
