Default Size of the 20/30/40d grip (width)

Looking at the pics, the grip is larger then the camera itself (width wise) . How comfortable is it actually to be using the grip and holding it? It seems pretty dang large

It's not that large. I ditched mine though for opting to get a small bag to carry with what I want. It depends on your needs but I hardly found the extra battery useful and the grip took up too much space. Although it was fun to have on shoots which I'm thinking of getting another...but later in time when things pick up more.

The grip is comfortable for portrait shots and adds balance for heavy lenses such as the 70-200 f/2.8 L IS. If weight or size are a concern, I remove the grip.

personally, i like the grip, gives the camera a bulkier feel... so you can feel the money in your hands... after all, it's over $1k

i dont think it's wider, the gripped in landscape orientation is flushed with the body, and maybe, it's just a hair wider.

i took apart the grip one day, just to wish everything down and clean everything, and i realised how small the camera looked without the grip. and holding it now, without the grip, can't seem to get use to it now... hee hee...

only complain i have is that every so often, i have to tighten the wheel a little... and sometimes, it worries me it that screw is going to hold the body with the 70-200...
