Default Our First Baby....

As the title suggests, my wife and I welcomed our first baby... Here are a couple I thought I'd share... Most taken with the fabulous 24-70, with a few macro and 85L shots as well...

1.)

2.)

3.)

4.)

5.) And needing a pedicure...

I like them all, especially the asymmetrical crop of #1. Only problem is the coloring of #2 makes the babe look not-so-healthy.

Really? You think the black and white tone somehow gives an ill look to her (Gabriella)?? The lighting was relatively too strong in that one, which is why I opted for the B&W conversion with some selective coloring... I'll try and redo it with a little more contrast

For me, the issue is with the pink of the hat. The baby is supposed to be pink! But next to the pink hat, the baby's skin looks very... well... grey. I think all B/W would work with that or all color, but I'm not a fan of the selective color with that one. Nice work though, I'd be proud to have those as the first shots.

Congratulations. I love #1. I also have to say that color is great or just plain B&W. When you take the pink out of the baby, it's kind of sad.

Suggestions noted! And thank you for the advice and well-wishes!!

Here are two quick turnarounds of #2...

Thoughts on the straight B&W vs color I'm thinking I prefer the 100% color.

vs.

I love #4... adorable baby. I agree about the selective color in #2. The color version is better for me because I think it captures that lovely pink baby skin tone the best of all the photos you shared. Congrats on your new baby.

Congratulations! You've got some great captures here but I agree, your re-work of #2 in color is the better of that particular shot. Great light, tack sharp, good composition.

Congratulations! She is a cutie I like the new color version of "the hat" picture. But my favorites are 4 and 5.
