Default Weekend away - Bear Gully - Wilsons Prom - Victoria (AUS)

Hi Guys,

Some photos from the weekend away. I would love some comments on what im doing wrong or right would be fantastic!...as i would like to improve my shooting.
I tried some shots at the beach with the shutter speed a little slower but it comes out very overexposed, i tried playing with all sorts of settings but couldnt get it right.

I love the 3rd shot as it has plenty of interest in the foreground and the colours are good
When it comes to long shutter speeds in bright daylight you will have to use a filter to cut back the amount of light entering the camera, a polarizer or a neutral density filter in the correct strength is what you need (something that reduces the light by at least 2-3 stops, you can use them together also to achieve this. This will allow you to get the desired movement in the landscape you are after without the image being overexposed due to the long shutter speed.

Edit: don't forget to have your ISO at its lowest too. As you are interested in using this technique for landscape photography and you are probably after good depth of field put your camera in Aperture Priority and choose a small aperture. Start at f16 and work your way through the f stops until you find one that gives you the effect that you are happy with i.e f16, f22, f32.
Alternatively you can use Shutter Priority and you chose the shutter speed you want to use i.e 1 second, 2 seconds etc and let the camera find the appropriate aperture.

I would also try to shoot in the morning and evening to avoid our harsh Aussie light.

Hope that this info helps you.
