I'm excited to add this piece of equipment to my arsenal. Does anyone have some sample weddings shots I can expect with this beautiful camera?
Thanks in advance, |

Well, as they say it's not so much about the camera than it is about the person behind it. There are plenty of shots taken with the 1ds Mark II here so just browse through the threads and you're sure to find some.

I'm tired of hearing that its the person behind the camera. That is TRUE to some aspect, yes, but the camera does have it perks which makes pictures better than other cameras ie, higher resolution, sharper, color rendition, etc. I have tried searching through this subforum, but I couldn't find anything.

I don't have it, yet, but a quick search yielded a going-on archive for the 1ds II here although it's not wedding, it should give you an idea.
Good luck and congratz with the new camera. Show us some samples when you can. |

It isn't a popular comment because those that invest in big bucks DSLRs want to hear that it will make the world of difference to them but it is true that the person behind the camera is more important than the camera being used. Although I would argue that there are better cameras for wedding work, the 1Ds is a very capable camera and if you deliver your part of the package then you'll be very well equipped to deliver great photographs ...... good luck !

You can't "expect" anything from any camera unless you're a competent photographer. Of course a 1Ds is a more capable tool than a lot of other cameras, but owning it will do little for you if you weren't creating great images with whatever you used to have.
Care to link us up with some of your work? |

Thanks for the comments. I'm not expecting the camera to improve, rather than enhance my photography in ways that other cameras don't. This may be a weak analogy, but a ford and a ferrari both get you to the same place, but one does it faster than the other, ie one camera has higher performance than the other. The same could be said that an inexperienced driver of a ferrari would be slower than a seasoned professional in a ford. However, I don't think I fall into this category as I am a not new at using cameras. I have used the 20D, 30D, 40D, and they have been GREAT cameras. However, their AF performance (for example) is not superb, as one would expect from a 1Ds Mark II (in generality). I will link you some pictures when I get home from work

lol ....so funny on this thread ...this guy asking the photo of the 1Ds mark II ...and you guys give him the advice the other thing ....
It's just like ...the doctor walk in to the car dealer asking the saleman the BMW how fast this car an go ...and the the saleman tell him : ...well ...the Ford Escort is the great car ,fast and cheap ....It's just depend on the person behind the wheel . This is just funny ,because you don't even know the other person behind the screen ...and you don't know how much the experience he had ...and you give him some advice , what's a joke ? Either you had or you don't ...how simple is that ?

Wish I had one to show samples, but alas I'm on a lowly 1D II. I don't think my poor little laptop could handle the 16.7MP RAWs anyway.

More often than not, these types of questions are posed by people with little skill who believe that a better camera will make their photos better. Such people are usually disappointed with their ROI.
Given mrandrew hasn't provided a link to a gallery or website it's impossible to tell where he's coming from. All we can do is respond to his question, which seems to presuppose that he should expect something of the 1Ds simply because it is a 1Ds (while requesting photos that will prove nothing about what he will be able to do with it). I hope that he's a photographer who will leverage the benefits of a 1Ds, which is why I'd love to see some of his work. The car dealer analogy doesn't really apply, except in the sense that photographers are just as free as car buyers to spend as much as they like on stuff they will use only a fraction of. |

That is funny because more often than not, do I hear from people who have never used a 1Ds2 to always jump the conclusion and insult any skill that I may possess in photography, that upgrading will be a complete waste of my money. In reality, I'm just asking for objectivity here. If you haven't used a 1Ds2 or seen the benefits of using one over a lower model, then please just don't respond to the thread. I'm sorry that I may have been misleading regarding my experience, and I'm sure your comments were in the best of interests in warning me against such an upgrade, but I assure you this is not the case.

I'm glad, mrandrew. And I'd still like to see some of your work!
I have played with 1D series cameras and I respect what they can do that my lowly 30D's can't. But, my 30D's can do a heck of a lot considering what I paid for them Anyway, pics! |
