How about the Canon 50mm f/0.95 for the old Canon 7 rangefinders? This one on eBay recently went for a pretty reasonable price, comparatively speaking.

mzivitins, did you look at the link I posted? It's plenty sharp for f/1.0, but if you're looking for ultimate sharpness, you're looking at the wrong aperture.

Sharpness isn't everything.

The Canon 50 f/0.95 is a sweet lens, I think. Not very sharp, but I like the images it makes. I'd love one converted to M-mount, to stick on an M8 or M6.

Yes! Yes! Yes!, I almost bought a .95 on an old Canon 7s. I just couldn't force myself to pull the trigger on that one. Waiting and lurking and perhaps another will come around.

With the price of the 50mm f/1.0L you can buy the 85mm f/1.2L and the 50mm f/1.2L

Try shooting either one of those lenses at 1.0 or 1.1 and see what happens!

Already have the 85 f/1.2, fabulous lens BTW, and don't want or need the 50 f/1.2, as the 1zip is just as good at 1.2 and above, at least mine is anyway. Also the 50 1.4 is almost as good as the 50 1.2 @ 1.4 and above.

David, I think there's on for sale on FM.com with the 7s, for like $1200?

I'd love something around or under f/1.0

Hey David, does the 50 f/1L have a free-spinning focus ring like the 85L?

A few sample shots here. It certainly has a unique and quite pleasing look.

sharp, sharp, sharp, sharp ...
I have red somewhere here a good opinion about sharpness ...
People forget other things in photography.
And we often see now lots of very sharp and useless staff

Default Can You Tell Which is Which?

A little something for you nay sayers who badmouth the 50 f/1.zip.

For your consideration are 2 images below. Both 100% crops. One shot with a 50mm f/1.0 @ f/1.2 and the other shot with the 50mm f/1.2 @ 1.2.

Tell us which is which. Post 1 of 3. 2 more parts to follow.
