Help please opinions

My sister inlaw is asking me for my opinion on a Power shot I have no experience with them can anyone help

I wanted to remind you Mama's birthday is on Saturday March 15th . She'll be 83 yrs. old.

I also want your opinion about a digital camera. It's a Canon PowerShot SX100. It has 8MP with 10x Optical Zoom
and 4x digital zoom. Do you think this will serve my purposes. What I usually take pictures of are close-ups of flowers (macro)
birds and just everyday portraits and scenery. I would love to have a set up like yours, but I don't really think I'll get much chance to use
it. Maybe the next time you upgrade I'll buy your old equipment form you.Anyway what do you think about the camera I've chosen?

sounds like it should do just fine for her. tell her to go find one in a store and feel the controls, menus and stuff like that. it has built in IS which is also nice. i havent used this camera in paricular, but i had an older powershot a70 (3.2MP) with a macro focus setting, and it worked out well.
