Default Wood ducks - home, home in the rain

It is srill raining here but I caught this pair exploring one of the houses I have put up in the trees. I need to trim a couple of branches before the next session. 40D, 300 2.8, ISO 800

Great stuff Bob. There are wood duck boxes up all over here but I've never seen one in use.

Thanks Mitch. The problem I have is that the damn gray squirels take over the houses. They need to go back to Europe where they came from!

Wow this is great! It's not everyday you see a picture of Wood Ducks in an acutal nest box.
About the squirells, they are native to the US, they were introduced to Europe, where they're causing a huge amount of damage, especially on the native European Red Squirells.

Thanks for the comments everyone. I have several wood duck houses up on my property and some years they go unused (I think because of the squirrels). This time of the year it is fun to watch as they explore the boxes, going in and out and sometimes 2 or 3 pairs squabbling over the same box. Occasionally 2 hens will be in the box at the same time. I am still going to work on some flight shots as they fly from the fence to the boxes and back. I just haven't had the light for fast shutter speeds.
