Default Candid Wedding Photos

I have an oportunity to work with a Pro in a couple weeks to do a wedding. He mainly wants me to shoot Candids for him.

Any advice on this technique (if you can call it that)

Would using my 50mm 1.8 at higher ISO to avoid flash be recommended?

keep your eyes open, pay attention to surroundings and lighting.

watch closely to where the crowd would normally go and where kids would play, they make great candid shots.

Get there early do some test shots to check lighting in tricky areas, such as indoor, shade etc. so you can quickly dial in exposure you desire quick and capture the moments.

Get low when shoot candid, no higher than their eye level.

Keep looking around, be ready to shoot, try remember settings from previous shot while scouting for next frame, keep fingers on both dials so you can change exposure setting without looking through viewfinder.

Other than that, good luck!

I always use flash inside and bounce it off the ceiling. If the other photographer you are shooing with is filling the room with light via studio lights and pocket wizards ... use them too. Shooting with an aperture and focal length like that can get a little repetitive.

Have a good Flash & know how to use it. Spare batteries & a zoom from for in close shots. People sitting at tables when they're not eating or when the bride & groom is making there rounds greeting folks.
