Default '40 Ford Deluxe Coupe - "TAPDOUT" - 4 pics

The last of these shots for the year! I had put the tripod away, bungeed it into the trunk, & was about to leave when this guy walked up & started talking photography. Then he said that this car was his & asked if I could shoot hand held in the low light levels. The car to one side was just leaving, so I said, "Why don't we try it & see?" I'd a lot rather have been at ISO 100 & f-11 but, except for the noise, they didn't come out too bad. Might be OK for 4X6" prints since the Jpg compression "cleaned up" some of the noise.
Two were RAW & two were Jpeg. Care to guess which are which?

It's running a 350 Chevy w/4 side draft Webers! Has Air, Pseat, Pwindows, cruise, P disk brakes. This is no trailer queen! He put 50,000 miles on it in the last 10 years, and the original paint job still looks immaculate.

300D, RAW, manual everything.
ISO 800, 1/80 sec @ f-7, 18mm.

Frank, For shooting this at iso 800, I think these came out VERY well.
Thanks for sharing these shots of a Very nice (and Interesting) Driver.

hard to tell

the first two raw ... I think?

in the second last shot the car looks like had been in a crash and the panel beating job was not great
(photoshop or panel beating ?)

maybe it's just the 'jpeg' quality I see ?

if it is one of the jpegs

the second shot is raw .
(?)

it's beautiful anyway

I always loved the '40 Ford coupe. I helped my cousin build one many years ago. We sure never imagined installing an engine like that in it. In fact, his had a pumped-up flathead with three Stromberg 97 2-barrel carburetors and some spiffy-looking Offenhauser aluminum heads on it. I really love the Weber setup in this photo. I'll bet it's a bear to setup.

Thanks, everyone. That could become my fav car if I can get it into an empty parking lot next Summer.

The car is the real "Star" here. The PS work is really not that hard! Almost everything "hard" I used is posted in the "Post Processing Tutorials List" under "Contrast Control" & "Selecting areas in PhotoShop".
Give it a try.

Looks like we 'cross posted'.

That was the Greaser Standard back in the '50s! It still would look good today.

Marie: Maybe yes..., & maybe no!

These pics... Absolutely beautiful!

Odd reflection on the last one (on the lower right). I thought it was a scratch in the paint at first. Then I realized, "hey we're not looking at my car here... there's no way there's a scratch in the paint".

Professional work!
Awesome car too.

I think the first two are raw since they seem to show a better control over the sharpness and detail in shadows.

Hey, you're right. What is that?
Never mind. I was looking at it on my laptop. I went in the office and saw that was the reflection of the hood strut. You're right, MegaTrixel, we shouldn't have questioned it.
