Default Would it kill Canon to make their lens caps more user friendly?

I happen to love the Tamron lens cap where you can take it off/put it on at the sides like a traditional Canon cap, or it has two fittings towards the middle of the cap where you can take it off/put it on from the center. Canon caps are such a pain to use when you have a lens hood mounted.

Speak among yourselves

I hear ya. Been a long time complaint on here. The absolute worst is the 15 fisheye cap. It wont' say on, Made of metal and rubbing paint off the lens. Not a problem since I will never part with this lens. Big irritant. Also the prices of the lens hoods are ungodly!

Actually, what pisses me off about the Canon caps is that I was trying to put it on to my 24-70 and couldn't quite get it on, so I just tried pushing down the end that seemed loose and it "popped" and went down on to the filter in a crooked fashion and put a mark into the coating of the filter. Filters are damn more expensive than the hoods. Oh well, this is just one of those things, at least it wasn't on to the front element

I have Nikon caps on all of my lenses....the canon ones are in the box....the Canon ones stink, especially with a hood on the lens.

You can get a Nikon version with the Canon name on it on e-bay somewhere....but to answer your question....the Canon lens caps are awful.

Hmmmm, I didn't know that I started on a Nikon N80 and loved their caps. I will look them up. Esp if they may a good fisheye one.

Now that Sigma has finally gone to the center pinch cap, it leaves Canon as the only major maker without center pinch caps. Nikon, Sigma, Tamron and Tokina all have center pinch lens caps. (I don't know about Pentax and Olympus).

Makes you wonder.

Center pinch caps cost peanuts on ebay. You can even get them with a counterfeit Canon logo printed on.

Best Caps are Tokina Caps - they ooze class. Tamron caps suck in comparison - too hard to pinch.

This is going to sound stupid, but after spending $1100 on a lens and another on a filter, should we really have to spend an extra 8 bucks on a fake canon cap because the manufacturer can't improve their product? I know this is a petty thing, it's just annoying is all
