this was one of my first lenses, back when i had a 20d, it was one of my favorites, if you dont mind the f2.8 aperture this is a great lens for the money.

I got this lens with an EOS-3 for $75, just waiting for it to get here. The EOS-3 has less than 1000 clicks and the 28mm is even newer :D both are MINT MINT MINT! Same guy I got a bunch of other hardly touched items from including the sharpest 35-80mm (MKI) I have ever seen and another under 1000 cluck EOS-1.

I wanted to ask:
Where is this lens the sharpest? What does it like to be stopped down to?

I do a lot of landscape and car photography.

I hope more people add more pictures, I would love to see more :D

As soon as it gets here I will upload mine. They will be taken with a 40D.

Since this lens looks like the Nifty Fifty, does that mean it shares it's same auto focus motor? Or does it have a more accurate focus?


Also, how sharp is this lens wide open? 100% crop's would be nice.

Went out last Sunday with the EF 28mm f/2.8. Got mine used on eBay for $150.

I have this lens, only because my dad had it for his SLR, but haven't taken many pictures with it. I think one of the pictures on my Flickr is from this lens. I'll edit and post it.

edit: I took this picture with the 28mm.

umm... picked up this lens in a craiglist deal a week or two back and finally got around to playing with it. Holy crap... this is a nice lens. I'll try to get out with it and post some pics, but just for the record, I like it. I would put this right in with the nifty fifty as far as good, economical primes... although not all that great for low light. I haven't peeped yet, but initially looks sharper than my 24-70L at 28mm.
