Would those collapsible reflectors that you buy to put over your windshield to block the sun rays work in photograpy? They are silver/grey.

Should work great. Just a little more work to reflect the light since its very collapsible

i attached one of those to two pieces of styrofoam so it wouldnt cloapse as easily, and would still fold in half. Works great tested against a real reflector it delivers slightly less light on account of the texture but still enough.

Also, look at sheets of white foamcore if you want a softer reflector: they work like a charm, although they're a little hard to fold up

Look for some cast off corrugated plastic (corroplast) all the rage for ad hoc outdoor signage now.
This makes a great, yet almost free reflector (much like foamcore). But, it is far more rugged than foamcore. Enjoy! Lon |

All good ideas, thanks! This morning I made my first muslin backdrop and saved myself $100! I was very impressed with how it turned out. If interested, check out this site:

I'm thinking of using a collapsable light tent I picked up off ebay as a reflector. Practicality-wise I like the idea, it folds up into a pretty small circle (once you work out how the hell to do it... always a task for me
My question is: does the white matter? I know it will be less reflective than silver, but the colour shouldn't really be thrown off should it? Maybe a little if it isn't true white I guess, but considering it's free and I already have it... |
