Cool!
I really miss the articulating screen my G11 had. Truly enjoyed the G9 when I had it. Wonder what the replacement G13 will be like?

For the lens pictures thread in the EOS lenses section I used the G9 to take a picture of all my lenses. I use the ST-E2 to fire two Speedlites, one either side with homemade diffusers and had black velvet behind to give the black background.

Went kayaking yesterday and took the G9 in the Canon UW case for protection. I let the kayak sloooowly drift towards these turtles, taking lots of pics as I got closer at full tele zoom. This shot was processed from RAW in DPP, and cropped. They finally felt I was too close and dove in the water after this shot.

Dennis,
Turtle-wax is a private thing. Obviously they didn't want their pics exposed over the internet.

Very nice shot. What kind of distance and zoom were you using, if you can estimate? The '9 sure gives that extra reach.

CarloY, thanks, I would have to guess the distance had come down to about 15 to 20 feet. I was at full zoom of 210mm equiv. Here's the uncropped photo to perhaps help in visualization of the distance.

They were already nervous because my wife had gone by them on the other side, and I had come from a different angle. This is a JPEG from the camera, with minor edits and cropping in Picasa. I had stopped paddling and let the breeze drift me towards them. I sat still and cradled my G9 in my left hand with my right slowly clicking shots as I got closer. I didn't know how soon they would finally dive for the cover of the water. They waited a lot longer than I thought they would. Here's an earlier shot with my wife in the background. You'll notice one turtle is looking over his shoulder at her with one eye, and at me with the other...

The turtle shots looks amazing. How did you get that depth of field with the G9? Or was it done in processing?
