Default Is this Usable

Hello all i was wondering if you would consider this edit usable...i horribly underexposed this match (kind of a tenancy for me unfortunately) i brought up the exposure and did hue/saturation and shadow/highlight edit on top of curves and the usual but the colors seem unnatural to me...how do the look to you all?

Original

Edit

is there something else i can do pp wise to make the colors more natural?

I'm not a big fan of this aggressive Shadow/Highlight effect - what with all the haloes, and flat midtones, and everything.

If it was my shot (and there weren't too many) I'd select the girls using Quick Mask, and simply use Curves to adjust their exposure. I probably wouldn't touch the exposure of the background - it looks ok.

Ah yes, so you did. I can see the nasty lasso line around the hair. Better get familiar with masking, pronto!

By the way, I don't think you under-exposed at all - I'd say you did the best job possible under the circumstances.

Well, it takes a bit of getting used to. Often I zoom in to 400% to do the precise areas. But for hair, a big soft blob will do it.

Here's an example of beginning my mask - you'll see I was precise around the hard edges, but soft for the hair:
