Default does a macro lens make a good portrait lens

its the 100mm canon 2.8

i use mine alot... only problem is i find 100 mm a bit too long and i have to stand far away but... it is sharp as a tack!

On a 1.6x crop sensor body, the Canon 60mm EFs makes a nice portrait lens.

I'm agreeing with Zacker here....great portrait lens, but need some distance.....works great with the Canon ring flash.

No...I don't have any examples....they were accidently deleted....ARG!

I also have the 100mm macro and have used it for portraits many times. It is almost too sharp for some portraits. I agree, 100mm is a bit long with my 30D, but when I've used it for portraits I've been outside. So it wasn't much of an issue.

Both those gals have beautiful blue eyes!
