Driving into a freight train probably isn't good for the paint job...or the driver.

Trains always seem to come of better, I take it the driver was OK (except maybe for his pride)

This one certainly looks surviveable. I once investiged a wreck near Amarillo, TX, where a family of five was exterminated when a Santa Fe freight broadsided them in their Mercury Cougar. The train was going 70mph at the time, and they were picking up pieces of the car and its passengers for about a mile.
Score: AT&SF = 5, Cougar Occupants = 0. These accidents can be very messy. |

Definately a fortunate individual to have not only survived, but to have walked away. This isn't a blind grade crossing, good visibility in both directions. Just shows what can happen if you take your mind off driving even for an instant.

Railway level crossings were a prominent news feature in the UK recently after a man committed suicide by driving his car onto a crossing in front of an approaching 100mph train. He succeeded in taking his own life, but took those of 7 others with him. Several accidents since have highlighted the dangers of people misusing level crossings, both in ignorance and impatience, and I think there will be a national advertising campaign soon.
