Default Acadian Party 400 years in the making (8 photos)

Hello everyone,

In August 2004, we Acadians from the world over celebrated the 400th anniversary of our arrival to North America (Acadie) in 1604. The grand event lasted two weeks and finished off with a large concert assisted by more than 10,000 people on Citadel Hill in Halifax, Nova Scotia on August 15th, our National Holiday. The concert was also broadcast live on tv across Canada.

I really did push my Canon digital rebel to the limit that night and probably the 300 pound security guards as well. By the end of the concert I was on the stage as well. Here are a few of the photos I took.

The arrival of the great Tintramare parade from the streets of Halifax.
Lots of costumes and noise!

Steve Riley and the Mamo Playboys from Louisiana warm up the crowds
and my granddaughter Marisol as well.

A photo of the grand stage.

Bruce Daigrepont from Louisiana and fidler Dominique Dupuis from New Brunswick.

Musician and CBC camera crew.

There was as much going on in the crowd as on stage.

Here rising star Wilfred LeBoutilier from New Brunswick,(background)
get's a chance to preform with his idol Zachary Richard, from Louisiana (foreground)

The large costumed crowd seen from the stage.

I hope you enjoy the photos.
