Photographer friend of mine gave me an assignment a while ago - shoot eggs on a white plate on a white background. Well, having shot those eggs for weeks on end, I started playing around with them in PS. Intention was to introduce different elements inside the eggs or appearing to be inside the eggs or on the surface. And to see if I could get blending two images down to some kind of dull roar....
One shot. Comments welcome, of course! ![]() |

Great picture! I'd like to see more and read how you did it.

Thanks for the comments!
The photo is two shots - three eggs on a black plate...side lighting and a flash bounced off the ceiling. Second shot is leaves on maple this fall. What I did was first made a copy layer of the eggs and discarded the background layer. I added a second layer of the leaves and changed blending mode from normal to overlay then adjusted the percentage of opacity till the leaves were showing through less and the eggs stood out more. I brushed out areas of the leaves layer that were distracting - ie, I erased anything on the layer that was outside the edges of the eggs. I then used select color to intensify the yellows and blues. Next I added a duplicate layer of the eggs and moved it on top of the leaves. Changed the blending mode to pin light and adjusted levels and select colors of white and black. This layer acted as a defining layer of the edges and white and deepened the black. I went back to the leaves layer - once the eggs were defined, and adjusted again with burning and dodging areas of the leaves. I also blurred etc. I saved this photo in layers in case I want to alter it again. Then I flattened the image and saved that because I went in again at this poing and cloned black areas around the back edges of the eggs because the eggs were too assymetrical. I'll post a few more egg shots because I actually worked four or five different image into the same shot of the eggs. C |

Ok. Two more shots of the eggs. Same techniques.
