So I searched around and could not find any information on the cheap bg-e2 grips on ebay. It seems like there are a few different brands, but no comment on their quality. So if you have any insight or type of review or opinion about one of the grips lets hear it. Thanks

I have the YXTM branded one, and some say it is identical to the Opteka one.
It works just fine, I bought it from a member here on POTN.

Another vote for Opteka (and a vote for amazon instead of ebay for getting it).

Agreed with griptape. Bought a grip from ebay and found that it wouldn't work because the latch that kept the batteries in was too loose. All my other buys from ebay have been fine but it's still made me a bit timid in buying anything else from ebay. Don't think it was a problem with the brand but just be wise and always remember, "buyer beware."

I think a battery grip is the only accessory where I wouldn't put anything but Canon on my camera. I'd be concerned that if there was an electrical malfunction in the grip that damaged the camera, Canon wouldn't honor any warranty because the grip was third party...
My 40D is out for delivery as I post this and included in the order was a BG-E2N.

That is a good point though. I plan on buying a Canon grip when I upgrade to either the 40D or it's replacement, but the Opteka has worked like a charm on my XT, and at $80 including 2 extra batteries, it's hard to pass up. |

Right I've owned the Opteka for my XT but im looking for something for the 30d. Does anyone know which model on ebay is the Opteka one(other than that ridiculously goofy looking one)?

Does the ad say "opteka"? Again, I really recommend just buying from Amazon instead of ebay.
