Default Who has IR converted a G3?

Hi!
I'm hoping someone who successfully converted a g3 might be able to help me.
I attempted to convert my G3 to infrared according to Lifepixel's fine instructions, but when I was finished and turned the camera back on, it asks me to reset the time and date, but the 4-way controller (up/down arrows) doesn't seem to have any effect when pushed. As a matter of fact, nothing to the right of the LCD has any effect when pushed. Mode dial on top has an effect. Camera seems to focus and zoom, image is reddish, but I have no control of the 4-way controller, set, menu, function, display or erase buttons.
I thought the big flat cable that plugged in at the top of the board which heads to that area in the camera might not be installed correctly, but I dis- and re-connected it a number of times to no avail. Also tried reconnecting the other flat cables but still nothing. What could I have missed?

Any and all help would be appreciated.
Thanks
Wolfgang Kurth

Wolfgang,

Not specifically on a G3 but have seen this on other camera's and the same would apply:
You have to be careful with the ribbon connectors. Any fingerprints on the contacts will cause this type of problem. Take the connectors apart again and clean them carefully with something like Eclipse. I usually just use a cotton bud with a couple of drops. Be careful not to touch the connector contacts when you rea-assemble.

Pretty sure that will fix your problem.

Thanks for your help.
I will take it back apart and try spraying some contact cleaner on the contacts. I suspect the wide flat cable with the solid connector that clips on top of the board. I've heard people have problems with the battery contacts on the g series, so why not the internal cables as well.
I'll let you know what happens when I take the unit apart again.

You've missed a connector inside or not properly seated it before closing the cable lock or it's one of the push in ones that's not in right.

I've done a bunch of G3's and had this in one occasion but I forget which cable it is off the top of my head.
