These were shot Thursday July 3rd, in West Haven, CT.
I was about 100 yards from the launch site, my camera and Tamron 17-50mm was tripod mounted, F/11 aperature, set to bulb exposure, 100 ISO, prefocused the lens to infinity, and used my trusty POTN shutter release. I had practiced in a nearby town the night before, so technically this was my second time shooting fireworks. Very nice. Helps to have some landmark in the scene as well.

Number 7 is muy bien I love the smoke or whatever that is in the BG.

Thanks all,
Our fireworks in West Haven are staged on the beach, so there is no possibility of any landmarks being included in the shots. The background is just the vastness of the Long Island Sound. There was barely any wind that night, so many of the shots have some lingering smoke, #7 just happened to be one instance where the smoke actually created a nice effect. |
