CF card recommendation

Hi,

I'm new to digital photography, just got an S330, and would like a recommendation of a brand of CF card to get. I'm not sure if I'm going to get a 64, 128, or 256 Mb card. I've found some info about the relative speed of different manufacturers CF cards, but I'd like to hear from anyone as to what's the fastest for the $$.

i got a lexar media 12x high speed 256mb compactflash card for under 100 usd. . . but from what most ppl report, the card doesnt' really make that much a different. most people just buy the higest capacity for the money.

I just got (from PCMALL.com) a Kingston 128 card for $39 - and it had a mail in rebate of $10 - so it ended up costing me $29.

I haven't had any experience with CF cards, but the sales guy told me they have never had a Kingston returned....and Kingston is a good name in memory in the computer world.

If you can afford it go for the maximum capacity card you can. Have you tried www.ebay.com Often you can win a good deal here. These cards are pretty resilient in terms of relability so the risk of it failing is pretty low.

does anyone have experience with the Microdrive?

I have seen websites suggest it is the cheapest $ per MB ?

Check out the review of digital film (cf cards) at www.dpreview.com . I like kingston (mostly because of good expieriences with thier computer memory) and the pny card I just bought does a good job but is slower than the kingston. I have heard viking, ridata, transend are all good cards and generally faster than the two brands I mentioned though performance is very camera dependant so there is no magic speed formula. As far as quality the majority of major brand name cards seem to perform reliabally.

i've tried a kingston and sandisk 64mb one
the kingston is way slower than the sandisk
on windows xp when it loads the previews, the sandisk previews shows up right away
on the kingston card i see a red X on the preview boxes until it loads which takes quite a while.

If you want to check out the reviews on different flash cards...check out this website... I ordered the Kingston 256MB card, but was considering getting the IBM Microdrive and an additional 700mah battery before my honeymoon in April...
