I did a couple of images a while ago, comparing and contrasting scenes from my home town of 50+ years ago to present, well here's a couple more

I love comparative photos such as these! I am working on a project here in NYC doing the same thing - I look up old photos in books and try to recapture them as they look now. I like how you maintained the same focal length and field of view for the same scenes, excellent work.

It's good to see how well preserved everything seems to be in your town... In NYC, they want to tear everything down and build shiny 30 story condo towers where buildings with classic architecture once stood.

Wonderfully done - very enjoyable to view these. I have a book that did this comparative shooting with Berenice Abbott's New York shots from years back ("New York Changing: Revisiting Berenice Abbott's New York" - here is the link to that book on Amazon where there are some sample images to view. You've done just as remarkable a job of placement and perspective control as Douglas Levere did with Abbott's work.

Thanks for the link, I particularly like how in some of her shots, she uses the same unchanged reference point (e.g. a statue) surrounded by the ever changing environment.

Nice Les ... I researched this a while back when I lived in Birmingham. I found a guy on pbase who'd shot what was an old and very run down area in '60's and 70's and 80's, but it had just stated to become trendy by the time I moved there. Amazing to see the changes from those times but also during the 18 months or so I lived there. I tried to capture lots of images but never got 'round to doing the compare and contrast thing before I moved (again!!) I might do some research around here and try again. These are important projects IMO.

Amazing how so much changes, but so little changes visually. Super shots though.
